New Challenges
USCIS Increases Scrutiny on Citizenship Applications
USCIS recently announced significant changes to the naturalization process. Beginning in August 2025, officers are applying a broader “good moral character” standard and are authorized to conduct more searching reviews of an applicant’s background. In some cases, this can include neighborhood checks, workplace inquiries, or deeper scrutiny of tax records and past conduct. While these measures are designed to protect the integrity of the citizenship process, they also mean that even qualified applicants face higher risks if their filings contain errors or omissions.
For applicants, this raises the stakes considerably. Every response must be precise, every supporting document complete, and every step carefully managed. At The Callan Law Firm, P.C., we are dedicated to guiding you through these new challenges with thorough preparation and strategic advocacy. By working with us, you can pursue citizenship with confidence, knowing your application is presented in the strongest possible light under today’s heightened standards.
